2008 RMFL Power Rankings - Week 9

Well, well, well.  We’ve had fun this year, haven’t we.  Now it’s drawing to an end this week.  As happens with every football league, several teams can start planning vacations.  As for those who might get in the playoffs . . . well . . . who needs to go camping anyway.

Biggest Mover: Great Falls  + 4

Biggest Drop:   Boise   -6

Current            Previous:

1.                        3.                  Eastern Idaho Lionz- I swear every game I go to watch the Lionz, their sidelines grows by about five or six people.  I remember seeing a practice at the first of the year where they would gladly recruit anyone to help their seven man team.  Now, heading into the final week, they’re up over 40 plus.  If it wasn’t for the rule that makes players play three games to be eligible for the playoffs, they’d have about 74 players for the championship game.  It’s hard to remember that they’re the Eastern Idaho Lionz and not the Eastern Idaho Rabbits.  Anyway.

2.                        2.                  Strippling Warriorz- Mathematically alive for the playoffs.  They have the best defensive stats if the tiebreakers come out, and with all of the 4-3 teams playing each other, they, in essence can win and get in.  But the dreaded RMFL schedule will probably stand in their way.  Who is the idiot that scheduled them to play the Lionz twice?

3.                        4.                  Idaho Matadors- Way to go, guys.  It’s nice to see that a team can leave Western Idaho and win.  Call you’re big brothers up in Boise and tell them how you did it.

4.                        6.                  Logan Stampede- Let’s do this boys.  You have to beat a very good team to advance to the playoffs.  But don’t worry, their name is not Strippling.  And you’re playing at home, not up north at a place where the official signaling touchdowns wears a red hat and delivers presents on Christmas.

5.                       5.                  Magic Valley Bulldawgs-   I’m keeping Magic Valley above Boise for two reasons.  For one, they beat Boise.  Two.  Boise has ticked me off and I’m trying to put as many teams before them as I can.

6.                         10.               Great Falls Gladiators- I almost moved Morgan into the six slot.  But you know what?  Great Falls’ win again Boise looked just too darn sexy for me to pass up.  Thanks guys.  That was my feel good moment of the week.

7.                         9.                 Morgan Marauders- I think Morgan is a playoff team.  I have picked on them somewhat, but I do think they’re going to the playoffs unless Great Falls is bent staying above them in the rankings.  On a side note, I do believe Boise could beat Morgan and home or away.  I’m still not ready to forgive them for losing at Great Falls.  Keep looking down if you’re a Speed fan.

8.                         8.                 Glacier Knight- He didn’t just put the Glacier Knights ahead of Boise did he?  Oh man.  He did.  Well, here’s my reason.  Glacier took on a stacked Lionz team and played very, very well.  Oh yeah.  And they had to travel from Glacier to do it.  This wasn’t up on their home arctic turf.  These guys impressed me last week.  I have bashed them in the past because of their home field advantage, but you know what . . . these guys are real.  They most likely won’t make the playoffs, but they are a team to look at next year.  For Boise . . . Keep looking down.

9.                         3.                 Boise Speed- Okay.  Let’s be honest here. . . as I’ve said a hundred times . . . if you make Boise leave Western Idaho, something bad always happens.  Guess what, Boise . . . unless a miracle happens, you won’t be near your home for the whole stretch of the playoffs.  Other then my rant just now, I will say to Boise . . . see you in the championship game.

10.                       7.                 Helena Titans- Wow.  They didn’t want to make the playoffs, did they?  I am still racking my brain about them being the only team to beat the Lionz.  Granted the Lionz had a skeleton crew as compared to what they have now, but all the same . . . these guys are out to prove they belong in the AA.  LOL.

11.                       11.               Uintah Basin Oilers- Dear Uintah Basin Oilers.  We appreciate you coming up to play us this weekend and give us a slim outside shot at a first round playoff bye.  We will most likely rest all of our starters and second stringers also.  Our forthcoming win will make us 6-2 and give us our best season ever.  Thanks for being on our schedule for the last game of the regular season.  Do you realize that if we weren’t playing you, we could slip to the 5th seed with a loss.  So, we send our appreciation in advance.

12.                       12.               Snake River Sabercats- Come on everyone.  Don’t let Glacier sweep you.  Getting swept by the Knights is something you don’t want to tell your grand kids.
